Shaina Amin ( Full Name: Mahmuda Amin Shaina) is an Actress in Bangladesh. She becomes a household name since she acted in her first film “Meherjaan”. She played the lead role here. The thing which actually gives her popularity and gain a strong place as an actress in film fraternity.
Glamorous Shaina Amin caught the public eye with her very first TV ad. The ad was for Sunsilk Shampoo, known for its catchy jingle “Teen Duguney Panch”. “I was studying in class ten when I was offered the assignment and from that time several other ads came my way,” she reminisces.
Early on it looked as if Shaina’s career would begin as a dancer. But although she was receiving dance lessons from Shibly Mohammad, dance couldn’t sustain her interest. She recalls that even as a young girl she was spellbound by the catchy ads that she saw on the small screen. Ultimately she sought the advice of photographer Iqbal Ahmed on her future direction and did several photo shoots with him. “It was under his guidance that I landed up in this medium,” she says.
But that wasn’t the end of the road for Shaina. She made a superb beginning on the big screen with the film “Meherjaan” where she played the lead role. Many in the audience were completely bowled over by the charming newcomer. Says Shaina, “Director Rubaiyyat was looking for a fresh face for her upcoming film, when Rajib Ahmed, of Chhobiyal suggested my name. And there was no looking back for me from then on.”
Currently Shaina is busy shooting two films: “Pitaa” directed by Masud Akhand and “Putro Ekhon Poishawala” directed by Nargis Akhtar. Her co star is Emon. The former is based on the Liberation War. “Though there is a vast difference between the two films, I believe both will create ripples in the film industry,” says Shaina with characteristic confidence. As for her future goal, she says that she wants to give of her best and make a name for herself in her chosen career.
Shaina is also doing a few TV plays for Eid. Working on the silver screen or the mini screen is not an important issue she says: the bottomline is the output and audience appreciation.
In the midst of all the flurry of activity, Shaina is firm that she will continue with her studies. As a first year BA student at Lalmatia Women’s College she aims to excel in this sphere as well. And the audience would wish her well.
